Hi Ninie!

Wow, I haven't visited your blog since 2004/5 (I think?) and it looks like you're quite a celebrity now.

I really appreciate the time and effort you took to post this up, I always enjoy additional knowledge.

Love the meaning of the affirmations. I have a kid now (gasp-has it been that long?) and am really looking forward to doing some yoga to regain my health (and sanity).

Dear Kenny,

'You know what is beautiful' about your comments here and on my previous blog?

You always take your time in reading what I tried to say (as I am not a good writer, I always fear, people don't get what I try to convey) and your comments have always been the exact comments and feedback I always long in my posts instead of another 'Good post, keep up the good work' or the usual shameless 'Hi Ninie, cool blog. Link me up!' and most of the time, holier-than-thou comments that makes me go - wow, you really should have kept that / just say that out loud in your own blog only!

I thank you for the inspiration to continue on sharing. I wish to bump into you again or have coffee with you real soon!

The more I learn, practice and read about yoga, the more I am humbled as I find out more and more and more about yoga, life and myself that I have never discovered before.

Every yoga class I teach and I attend, I will definitely learn something new. Most of the time, the first-timers to yoga are my best 'teachers', amazing isn't it?

Life with yoga gets more and more interesting day by day, year after year!

Thank you for the reminder.

Most of the time, my reminders to OTHERS are my affirmation and responsibility to reminding MYSELF.

I hope my country leaders (and blog readers) will at least TRY to do the same.

Nya-yena margena mahi-mahishaha,
Lokaa-samastha sukhino-bhavantu.

panjangnya reply. haha . I have an easier rule of thumb. not comfortable. don't do it. :)

i think we can do our own istigfars we do in place of mantras (if you know what it means even better, kyushuk lagi).

come to think of it, you bertasbih also sit in lotus like position.

But I believe if its not comfortable, sod it. Even if it is, sod it :D

I just want to remind that we muslims reach 'self realization' by what is outlined in the quran, sunnah and hadis. yoga should just be taken as a form of exercise or you can say an additional supplement to strengthen the body and insyallah allow us to appreciate what wonderful limbs God has given us.

Now back to my pretzel practice. hehe.. if sangkut I call ninie to un-sangkut me... ciao!

Dear Ninie,

You know what is beautiful about this post that you have obviously taken the time and heart to write, thoroughly and sincerely? That instead of having it be another yoga vs. Islam debate (that I seem to come across far too often these past couple of years) but something that truly elevates your readers' understanding of both.

As someone who has dabbled with yoga before (and shamefully not practiced much of late, though I'm working on rectifying that) and as someone who loves living in Malaysia, a predominantly Muslim country, I thank you for writing a well-balanced post and for continuing to inspire.

Be well always,
Kenny Mah

Hi Ninie,

Great post!

I would like to share a verse from The Chant of Metta (Loving Kindness) here -

Imasmim arame sabbe yogino
avera hontu
abyapajjha hontu
anigha hontu
sukhi-attanam pariharantu

May all yogis in this compound
be free from emnity and danger
be free from mental suffering
be free from physical suffering
May they take care of themselves happily.

Namaste
